According to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission, Maryland’s six casinos made a combined $149,549,000 in August 2020 compared with $154,260,719 in August 2019.
In a news release, the commission touted the industry’s strength despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which forced casinos in the state to close before reopening in a limited capacity in June.
“The total is the eighth-best month of revenue in the Maryland casino program’s history,” the release said, adding for comparison’s sake that August 2019 was the fourth-best month for the state’s casino revenue.
The commission said that Hollywood Casino in Cecil County and the Rocky Gap Casino in Allegany County both saw increases in monthly revenue compared with August 2019.
According to the commission, these are the revenue totals for each casino:
MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County made $59,706,483 in August 2020, a decrease of roughly $2.7 million compared with August 2019.
Live! Casino and Hotel in Anne Arundel County made $52,468,619 in August 2020, a decrease of $554,091 compared with August 2019.
Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore City made $16,798,542 in August 2020, a decrease of roughly $1.49 million compared with August 2019.
Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County made $7,630,472 in August 2020, a decrease of roughly $1.78 million compared with August 2019.
Hollywood Casino in Cecil County made $6,782,515 in August 2020, an increase of $385,137 compared with August 2019.
